Dahlia Seed
Dahlia Seed
If you haven’t grown dahlias from seed before then you’re in for a real treat. This year I collected seed from all of my favorite varieties in our dahlia field and created our very own mix. There are sure to be some real gems in this mix as every seed is a different flower. The possibilities are endless with dahlia seeds and I always feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for my seedlings to bloom.
Dahlias grown from seed will also produce tubers the first year that can then be saved and planted again the next year.
Planting: Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. 120 days to maturity
Harvesting: Flowers are ready to be cut when blooms are fully open. Dahlias don’t open very much after they have been cut.
